Black Ice by Linda Hall

Black Ice (Fog Point Series)I had a mediocre response to the first book in this series, and the second wasn’t much better.  Again, Hall sets up a good mystery, but can’t really sustain the suspense through the end of the book.  She does have some interesting characters, and I do appreciate an author who can write a mystery without explicit violence, profanity or sex.  However, the writing isn’t strong enough to draw me in completely.

Dark Water

Dark Water (Fog Point)I had high hopes for Dark Water, as I’ve always enjoyed Linda Hall’s books. She so far has been able to avoid the cheesy preachiness that most Christian writers fall into, in addition to writing a fairly good suspense novel. However, Dark Water didn’t quite meet my expectations. While Hall set up a good mystery, the ending wasn’t nearly as exciting or dramatic as I was hoping. She failed to tie together all of the pieces, and there was much suspicious foreshadowing that came to nothing.
