Personal Classics
I’m a list maker. Lists help me plan by organizing my thoughts and prioritizing tasks. Lists also help me reflect back over the past. I make lists of my son’s cute activities and of answered prayers. When I was in college, I studied by listing out information to memorize. When I read Jen Robinson’s list of personal classics, I immediately began my own. What better use of a list than to record the books I love?
My general requirements for my personal classics (in list form of course!):
- I have read these books more than once, and most of them, I have read many times. (I have made a few exceptions to this requirement. I put an * by the books I have only read once. I do fully intend to re-read these books, time permitting).
- I own the book, or wish that I did own the book. (I’m pretty particular about books I’ll spend money on. I’ll check out almost anything from the library, but I usually don’t buy a book until I’ve read it first and know that I love it.)
- When I’m reading (or re-reading) the book, I get seriously annoyed by any interruptions and I can’t wait to dive back into it.
